Photographing the construction progression of The Bar at Morgan's On Main for the past two weeks. You're probably thinking, Why? It's a bunch of rubble or a mess or why are you showing us a toilet? That's my challenge and that's what is fun about documenting a transformation such as this. Finding the beauty of the mundane or not so pretty work site, and bringing a point of view to the viewer that is unique and hopefully interesting. Most of the time it seems we just walk into buildings and never think how it came to be. As a designer, it's really thrilling for me to know what goes on behind the scenes and as a photographer, to share that experience with you the best way I know how.
Several years ago I had my first experience photographing the events of a building being remodeled - for one year, every week, I witnessed the good, the bad and the ugly turn into a swan. I found the prospect of this project really exciting and went about finding what was fascinating on a construction site. Of course what I was really in search of was light!
