The Onion. This pungent plant is estimated to be grown annually around the World, in over 9,000,000 acres. They are very versatile in cooking and can be baked, boiled, braised, grilled, fried, roasted, sautéed or eaten raw in salads - I love the smell of sautéed onions and caramelized onion, yum. Photographically its concentric layers of skin and flesh create a strong graphic element of repetition.
